Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed the Middle East crisis with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in a phone call on Thursday, the Kremlin said.
“A thorough review was conducted of the range of issues related to the crisis situation in the Middle East. Serious concern was expressed over the degradation of the military-political situation in the region, civilian casualties, and the destruction of strategically important infrastructure,” the statement read.
Both leaders called for a swift cessation of hostilities and intensified diplomatic efforts toward a long-term resolution that respects the legitimate interests of all parties, it added.
“It was stated that the problems with energy production and transportation arising from the crisis are having a negative impact on global energy security,” the statement noted.
